After a very successful summer tour of major cities across Greece and a warm welcome from audiences of all ages, Miguel de Cervantes’ masterpiece“Don Quixote,” presented by Magical Spinning Tops, continues starting Sunday, October 9, for its second year, at the Mikro Horn Theater, for a limited number of performances!
Don Quixote remains our favorite dreamer and hero. He is the knight who comes to show us a new path—one that is brighter and more hopeful! On his horse, he gallops through his own imaginary world to make the impossible possible, to fight the darkness, and to let love triumph over evil! The performance, brimming with incredible humor and sensitivity, celebrates the great gift of friendship, embodied by Sancho, Don Quixote’s brilliant and utterly loyal companion . It celebrates camaraderie, devotion to others, and the strength we gain when we are all together.
Through the eyes of the director and the entire cast and crew, the children experience the exploits of a hero who loves the adventure of life and dares to live it despite the obstacles. The Windmills Are Always Here
And we, the Don Quixotes, clad in the armor of our dreams.
Through the performance, young audience members have the opportunity to get their first taste of Spanish culture.
The costumes and sets for the performance are inspired by the works of painters who were inspired by or lived in Spain, such as Velázquez, Goya, Domenikos Theotokopoulos (El Greco), and Salvador Dalí.
The wonderful music draws entirely on the rich tradition of Spanish composers. The songs are based on traditional Spanish songs that have been specially adapted for young audiences.
The performance is presented with the support of the Instituto Cervantes in Athens.
