Many years ago, Aliki Georgouli transformed a woodshed that had caught her eye into one of the most “ingenious” theaters in the Psyrri neighborhood, which at the time no one took seriously. And yet the neighborhood has grown and filled with theaters; it has developed an artistic identity and attracted a large crowd that prefers it for entertainment both day and night.

“Hairdryer for Murderers” ran for 13 years at the Apothiki Theater, and after that, plays were staged that addressed issues in their own unique way.

If you ask anyone in Athens about “Apothiki,” they’ll surely tell you it’s a theater on Sarri Street, in the Psyrri neighborhood.
