On Monday, March 9, 2026, the Pallas Theater at 8:30, will open its doors to host a special musical evening dedicated to the memory and work of the great performer Antonis Kalogiannis, five years after his passing.
An evening of remembrance and gratitude for a voice that did not merely caress the songs, but served them with truth, integrity, and deep human sensitivity.
Antonis Kalogiannis was a performer of substance—a voice that breathed life into great ideas, poetic lyrics, and music that defined eras. He had the good fortune—but also the heavy responsibility—to stand alongside leading composers, first and foremost Mikis Theodorakis, and to become the voice of songs that spoke directly to the soul and to the struggle for justice.
Throughout the evening, the audience will hear songs that Antonis Kalogiannis has indelibly marked with his voice, set to music by Stavros Xarchakos, Mimi Plessa, Dimos Moutsis, Ilias Andriopoulos, Giorgos Hatzinassios, Marios Tokas, Spyros Papavasiliou, Giorgos Hatzinassios, Argyris Kounadis, Georges Moustaki, Kostas Hatzis, Vangelis Korakakis, and other notable composers.
Songs based on lyrics and poems by Seferis, Sikelianos, Ritsos, Anagnostakis, Gatsos, Manos Eleftheriou, and Dimitris Christodoulou—words that became songs and songs that became memories.
Great performers and friends of his will take the stage to honor his career with respect and love: Melina Aslanidou, Pantelis Thalassinos, Manolis Mitsias, Dimitris Bassis, Giorgos Dalaras, Miltos Paschalidis, and Tasis Christoyannopoulos. Andreas Katsigiannis will serve as musical director, head of the Nea Ionia Estudiantina, an ensemble that knows better than most how to evoke emotion through tradition and the world of art music, with subtlety and respect. The Spyros Lambrou Children’s Choir will also make a special guest appearance at the musical evening. The artistic advisor for the evening is Ilias Benetos.
The performance is directed by Sofia Spyratou, while the video art is curated by Nikos Soules, featuring original archival footage, so that the figure and story of Antonis Kalogiannis engage in a lively dialogue with the present day.
