A performance dedicated to the vast musical tradition of jazz and the legendary songs that have left an indelible mark on the history of world music, will be presented on Wednesday, April 22, at the Olympia Theater “Maria Callas,” featuring Elli Paspala and, joining her on stage as co-creators, the outstanding musicians who accompany her.
One of the most successful performances by this leading actress, who captivated audiences wherever she performed.
Elli Paspala was born and raised in New York, and she keeps the treasures of American music alive within her.
With her soulful voice, she once again performs classic jazz standards that were made legendary by the interpretations of iconic singers, from Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone, to Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra.
Songs such as “Cry Me a River,” “The Man I Love,” and “My Funny Valentine” will be combined with timeless favorites like “Fly Me to the Moon” and “You Don’t Know What Love Is,” as well as some of Elli’s own “standards,” such as “Ain’t No Sunshine” and “Lonely at the Top.”
Accompanied by some of our most prominent musicians, who have made a significant mark on the country’s jazz scene, Elli Paspala will take the stage at the legendary Olympia “Maria Callas” Theater to tell, in the most enchanting way, stories filled with love, passion, betrayal, and wild joy—as only jazz can tell them.
Along with David Lynch on saxophones and flute, Takis Farazis on piano, Petros Varthakouris on double bass, Alexandros-Drakos Ktistakis on drums, as well as featuring the young saxophonist Tommy Lynch, they bring to life the atmosphere, the emotion, and the essence of this great music that defined the last century and remains alive and captivating forever.
