Sofia Vogiatzaki on “Dads with Rum” | Aliki Theater

As part of Stages Network’s Theatre Talks series, actress Sofia Vogiatzaki discusses the play ““Dads with Rum” by Michalis Reppas and Thanasis Papathanasiou,” which is being presented forits fourth year, starting in October at the Aliki Theater, directed by Stamatis Fasoulis.

The popular comic actress highlighted the play’s four-year-long success, both in terms of the cast and the script, which she described as exceptionally well-written. A script that, as she aptly put it, has not lost its freshness 30 years after its premiere. She also said that the show’s continued success is a blessing. Regarding the project, he referred to a certain segment of the population who “would kill their own mother and father for property and money.” He went on to say that it is a story written very cleverly and with a great deal of humor, featuring six characters with whom the audience can identify. She also confided that a group of audience members told her they had seen the show nine times. The discussion also highlighted just how much we all need laughter to be able to escape, even for a little while, from “the miserable reality we are experiencing worldwide.” So at the Aliki Theater, they serve up some wonderful “Rum Dads” with a dash of poison and… whoever meets their end. The four million that Dad—who has now left this vain world—won on the lottery are looking for their heir. Two sons, two daughters-in-law, a neighbor who’s a brilliant know-it-all, and a nightmarish nurse talk, argue, conspire, and sleep peacefully, weaving a sweet web of mutual destruction. “Dads with Rum” 2025. Who will be the last one standing to inherit the fortune? That remains to be seen.
