at the Piraeus 131 Theater
Naive cowboys and destitute Native American women emerge from the dusty, adventurous Westerns on Piraeus Street, all the way from faraway Hollywood. Wealthy Indian princesses who cast their nets for the fiancés of poor and not-so-honest Indian female workers are also arriving from glamorous Bollywood. Turkish tycoons who shatter romances and break hearts land in Athens through the Turkish melodramas of the ’70s, and of course, the old, Greek commercial cinema is revived in the cafes of Plaka alongside ambitious troubadours, tough lovers, jealous singers, and all-nighters until dawn.
Seven actors, dressed in 50 colorful, elaborate costumes and set against a backdrop of stunning, ever-changing scenery, take us on a journey across the Atlantic—from India to Greece and from Turkey to Amer!
“Cine”is a musical comedy featuring dance, song, and original music written specifically for the show.
