As part of Stages Network’s Theatre Talks series, actress Anthi Savvaki discusses Yannis Tsirou’s play “Wild Seed,” directed by Sofia Karagianni, which is being presented at the Mikro Horn Theater.
Anthi describes her role as Stavros’s daughter and her place within the play, focusing on the relationships between the characters, the moral and social dimensions of the story, and the significance of the younger generation, which experiences and suffers from the mistakes of previous generations. The play captures the pressure and injustices of a society that stigmatizes and excludes the vulnerable, shedding light on the complicity, the silences, and the social mechanisms that shape people’s lives.
The performance demonstrates that a play can be vibrant, relevant, and highlight different aspects of human behavior each time it is staged. Through Sofia Karagianni’s directorial vision, social pressure, the silence of witnesses, and the quest for justice become central elements of the play.
