at the Mikro Horn Theater

The audience embraced Sophia Adamidou’s play *My Name Is Sotiria*. The press praised it highly. Thus, the narrative performance—featuring moments and memories from the life of Sotiria Bellou, the great female icon of folk and rebetiko music— continues for a second year at the Mikro Horn Theater with live music on stage, directed, adapted, and dramaturgically edited by Giorgos Papageorgiou.

Katia Goulioni plays the role of Sotiria.

The performance is dedicated to the memory of Sofia Adamidou and Dina Konsta.

The project:

It’s evening. Sotiria is in the hospital, just before the surgery that will take away her voice. Her life will flash before her eyes like a movie. The people closest to her—her family, her husband, her passions. People she loved and who loved her, and others who hurt her or supported her when she was just starting out. Sofia Vembo, who unwittingly introduced her to singing; Vasilis Tsitsanis, who paved the way for her; Papaioannou, whom she loved deeply. It extends all the way to Andriopoulos and Savvopoulos, who brought her closer to younger generations.

Tonight, Sotiria will “delve into” a life that was significantly shaped by the circumstances and events of an entire era.
