Athina Maximou on “High Heels in the Swamp” | Lambeti Summer Theater – Taratsa

As part of Stages Network’s Theatre Talksseries , actress Athina Maximou discusses the play “High Heels in the Marsh” by Akis Dimou, which opens on June 2 at the Lambeti Summer Theater—Taratsa, directed by Manolis Dounias and Aimilios Cheilakis. As part of a tour running concurrently with the Lambeti Taratsa, the production will visit major cities throughout Greece.

He began the discussion by mentioning the beautiful rooftop terrace of the Lambeti Theater, describing it as a wonderful escape in summertime Athens. She described the play as “cheerful, colorful, and full of surprises, while also making the audience think.” She expressed her enthusiasm both for the cast of the production and for the decision she and Aimilios made to perform in Athens during the summer rather than go on a major tour, as they had done in previous years. She spoke about her role, saying that she plays the wife of the Minister of the Environment, a lighthearted woman who is the one who provokes the opposition’s blackmail against her husband, the minister.

A minister, his wife, and a leading figure in the Official Opposition. An eccentric, ambitious writer and a rising, equally ambitious journalist. A passionate (so they say) love affair that some cannot forget and others do not want to remember. A wedding anniversary that turns into a farce, a pile of dirty laundry that comes to light (but there’s no water to wash it), and the public life of a country that, in other is at risk of other things as well It’s burning. And all this while everyone is waiting for the Prime Minister to arrive at the reception any moment now.

A colorful pop comedy about the gray areas of politics (and beyond).
