Lambeti Theater

Information

The theater, named after the unforgettable Elli Lambeti, is located on one of Athens’ major thoroughfares, Alexandras Avenue.

The Granada movie theater stood on this site until the early 1980s. The architectural conversion from a movie theater to a theater was carried out by architects Giorgos and Char. Lazani and Labrini Ventouri.

In 1984, the theater opened with the Eleftheri Skini production *The Americans Are Here*.

To date, 39 productions have been staged at the Lambeti Theater. They have been directed by renowned Greek directors, including Jules Dassin, Minos Volanakis, Andreas Voutsinas, Stamatis Fasoulis, and Lakis Lazopoulos, and most Greek actors have appeared in major commercial and artistic hits.

It is one of Athens’ classic urban theaters, among the most popular with audiences, where for decades spectators have enjoyed performances marked by artistic excellence.
