at the Mikro Pallas Theater
COMPLETED
The contemporary play “I See You ” (The Counter) by American playwright Meghan Kennedy is directed by Vicky Volioti and will be presented at the Mikro Pallas Theater starting October 14, every Monday and Tuesday.
Starring: Theodoros Atheridis, Peggy Trikalioti—who are appearing together on stage for the first time—and Vicky Volioti.
This is a tender work that, with clever humor and a great deal of truth, addresses all the things we’re afraid to talk about and that one moment when we decide to share them with someone else.
Secrets, relationships, and conflicts unfold through the lives of three people who try to stand up to one another and, ultimately, to themselves; and when the truth comes to light, nothing is the same as before.
The play premiered off-Broadway in New York City in the fall of 2024, directed by the award-winning David Cromer (Tony Award, Obie Award, Lucille Lortel Award, etc.) by the Roundabout Theater Company.
Case:
Every morning at a local café in a small town, a waitress (Kate) fills a regular customer’s (Paul’s) coffee mug. Every now and then, Paul’s ex-girlfriend, Peg, stops by the café under the pretext of buying a slice of cake, hoping to see him there. Paul is trying to make his way in the big, tough world. Kate is a woman who wants to make a fresh start. Peg still loves Paul, and Paul loves Peg too. What happens when Paul asks Kate for a shocking favor? And what will happen when Kate finds out that Peg is Paul’s true love? An unexpected friendship blossoms, and everyone’s deepest secrets are brought to light.
Three people who love and are loved. Who laugh but also cry. With their mistakes and evasions. Sometimes bright, sometimes dark. Just like everyone else, with small and big secrets they haven’t confessed.
The truth hurts.
The truth hurts.
The truth, however, heals.
“I SEE YOU” is a funny yet deeply moving and thought-provoking work about our everyday interactions that can change our lives. It is an ode to the interpersonal communication we have lost.
