at the Mikro Horn Theater
Start: Saturday, October 10
Nefeli Maistrali’s new play, titled “For Rent,” a romantic comedy about human relationships amid the housing crisis, will be presented starting Saturday, October 10, at the Mikro Horn Theater, directed by Thanasis Zeritis. Performance days: Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
The story in a nutshell
Maria and Panagiotis are breaking up.
Panagiotis and Maria once fell in love, and one evening while they were eating souvlaki in Agia Zoni, they decided to move in together.
Maria and Panagiotis started looking at classified ads.
Maria wanted a renovated house, even if it was ugly. Panagiotis wanted a Bauhaus-style house.
Panagiotis and Maria found an apartment right next to the place where they had eaten souvlaki.
Maria and Panagiotis signed a three-year contract.
Panagiotis and Maria moved and bought a sofa.
Maria and Panagiotis agreed to extend the contract to 3+1.
Panagiotis and Maria, at 3.5 years old, in the living room of their house, realized they shouldn’t have asked for an extension. They screwed up.
During their 3.5 years in the living room of their apartment in Kypseli, these two people—deeply in love and crazy about each other—broke their lease, exchanged harsh words, cried, made love, laughed, ordered souvlaki, had a big fight, put away their winter clothes, bought plants, got a cat, packed boxes, filled suitcases, left their coats behind, and called a moving company….
And they broke up.
And now they have to find a place to live.
And now… they’re hitting the streets to find “FOR RENT” signs.
Nefeli Maistrali and Thanasis Zeritis, following “Immortality” , “Spyridoules,” “The Wicked Mother-in-Law,” and “The Left-Handers,” bring a play to the Mikro Horn about rented homes that have been the setting for love stories for three plus one years.
