Yannis Tsirou\u2019s new play, titled\u201cAraf<\/strong>,\u201d<\/strong>will be presented starting in October at the Apothiki Theater<\/strong>, directed by Giorgos Paloumpis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n About the project<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n No one\u2014whether human or dog\u2014can be certain about tomorrow. The future is, by its very nature, uncertain and unseen. An unforeseen event can overturn the certainties of the present, and our lives can find themselves in circumstances beyond our control. Evil begins when those in control turn a blind eye. Worse still, when this indifference puts our lives at risk; and worst of all, when Man and Dog find themselves on a shared and parallel path, deprived even of their former friendship. <\/p>\n\n On an island, a hotel owner, a gardener, and a veterinarian stand opposite one another, even as they are together. On the same land. They are confronted by a society that is hypocritical and constantly demanding, without any awareness of its own guilt. <\/p>\n\n A contemporary story, filled with moral dilemmas, conflicts, and questions that must eventually be answered. It features people and dogs searching for lighthouses along the coast, and a sea that is free to carry them on their journey. <\/p>\n\n Giorgos Paloumbis says of the new project:<\/p>\n\n \u201cMy third collaboration with Yannis Tsiros (Invisible Olga, Unshaven Chins) once again brings me face-to-face with a challenging text through which the play is called upon to connect with the audience\u2014on the one hand, on an entertaining level \u2014since the play unfolds through plot twists and humor\u2014and, on the other hand, on a deeply social, psychological, and even philosophical level.
