For the second consecutive season, the legendary modern Greek comedy by Thanasis Papathanassiou<\/strong> and Michalis Reppas<\/strong> is coming to the Aliki Theater following a SOLD-OUT first <\/strong>season!!<\/p>\n\n Starring Christos Hatzipanagiotis, <\/strong> Vicky Stavropoulou, Kostas Koklas, Maria Lekaki, Sofia Vogiatzaki, and Joyce Evidi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n This is a biting satire that ridicules Greek society<\/strong>. A society that, even today, unfortunately continues to be greater than itself\u2014 “smaller” in its behavior<\/strong>, greedy, racist, and offensive<\/strong> in all its manifestations.<\/p>\n\n Of course, a lot has happened since 1996. A new millennium has dawned<\/strong>, and a new reality has taken hold among us. Upsets<\/strong>, thwarted plans<\/strong>, countless<\/strong> new social media platforms<\/strong>, redefinitions of life, and a great deal of chaos. The shift in class identity<\/strong> that many people sought began to bring losses instead of gains. Businesses \u201cclosed<\/strong>, \u201d<\/strong> and retail chains suffocated their owners<\/strong>. The non-existent authorities, however, remained just as steadfast<\/strong> \u2014and perhaps even more criminal<\/strong>. The term\u201ccrisis of<\/strong>conscience\u201d is not often heard. It has been reduced<\/strong> to simply<\/strong>\u201ccrisis<\/strong>.\u201d <\/p>\n\n And so the story of these five disabled, foolish, wretched, and desperate wretches<\/strong> managed to seep into a mundane everyday life<\/strong>. Roe, Vaska, Panagiotis, Jenny, Christos, and Mrs. Vasso<\/strong> are characters who belong to the realm of realism<\/strong>, having leaped out from the pages of the play. Living, breathing characters we encounter and greet every day, without a second thought<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n And what are those silly bastards doing at the Aliki Theater?<\/p>\n\n They serve\u201cRum-soaked Dad\u201d<\/strong>and poison, and whoever meets their end<\/strong>. The four million won in the lottery by the father\u2014who has now departed from this vain world\u2014 are seeking their heir<\/strong>. Two sons, two daughters-in-law, a neighbor who\u2019s a brilliant know-it-all, and a nightmarish nurse talk, argue, conspire, and sleep peacefully, weaving a sweet web of mutual destruction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n “Dads with Rum” 2023. Who will be the last one standing to claim the fortune?
