Baron Rothschild <\/em>– <\/em>British banker, 1840\u20131915<\/em><\/p>\n\n

Yannis Tsirou\u2019s<\/strong> new play, \u201cKANONIA and TROMPETES<\/strong> ,<\/strong> \u201d<\/strong>directed by Giorgos Papageorgiou, premieres on October 10<\/strong> at the Emporikon Theater.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

On stage, an all-star cast: <\/strong>, Elli Trigou, Stathis Stamoulakatos, Ilias Valasis, Nefeli Maistrali, Giorgos Triantafyllidis, and Maritina Koutsokioni.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

\u201cKanonia\u201d is a black comedy of deception. Yannis Tsiros, who has previously produced outstanding works exploring contemporary Greek reality (for example: \u201cWild Seed,\u201d \u201cUnshaven Chins\u201d), tackles in his new play the themes of dirty money, the banking system, and the modern addiction to deception. <\/p>\n\n

The case:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Athens.<\/p>\n\n

Greece 2.0.<\/p>\n\n

A Romani couple, a couple of bankers, and two law enforcement officers. A loft somewhere downtown. A bag of bills. A small bag of drugs. And fish. <\/p>\n\n

Konstantinos is an executive at a bank. He has some bonds on his hands that are plummeting in value. That evening, shortly before the financial disaster, he will meet with Chronis. <\/p>\n\n

Chronis\u2014a drug dealer, among other things\u2014works for Konstantinos. He also has a fianc\u00e9e, Rubini, who wants to secure better terms for her loan from Konstantinos, who, in turn, is having a \u201cforbidden\u201d affair with Claire, who also works at the bank. <\/p>\n\n

That evening, the two couples\u2014by coincidence\u2014meet and get to know each other. Konstantinos wants something from Chronis, Chronis wants something from Konstantinos, Rubini wants something from Chronis, and Claire wants something from Rubini. It all unfolds over the course of one night of chaos, frenzy, and misunderstanding. <\/p>\n\n

But the bottom line is this: They need to get rid of the bonds before the \u201ccannons\u201d start firing!<\/p>\n\n

And somewhere around there, two police officers will enforce the law, and everything will turn out fine.<\/p>\n\n

Giorgos Papageorgiou joins forces with a distinguished cast in Yannis Tsirou\u2019s new play, with the aim of exploring the psychology of the modern Greek in Greece 2.0.<\/p>\n\n
